King of Meat: Dungeon Discovery

DUNGEON DISCOVERY

The King of Meat Dungeon Discovery is similar to other gaming level finders that allow players to find or show off their created dungeons to friends outside of the game. This project started out highly undefined with very little requirements. Most stakeholders were unfamiliar with level finding experiences and were given a small glimpse into the dungeon experience in King of Meat since it was still in development

01. Defining Product Requirements

The Product Manager and I worked together to get access to King of Meat while in development and determine what requirements would be feasible.

02. UX Research

Rapid prototypes were tested early with players so their voice was included from the beginning

03. Responsive Interaction Design

The Dungeon Finder experience was made to look great on all screen sizes, especially with a mobile first approach.

This project started out highly undefined with very little requirements. Most stakeholders were unfamiliar with level finding experiences. In addition, since King of Meat was still in development we were given only a small glimpse of what the dungeon experience could look like when the project started. I was tasked as Lead UX designer for this experience.

Since there were very little requirements and collaborators were unfamiliar with level finding experiences, I did a quick sketch for what the experience could look like and shared with product. They loved the vision and we both worked on project requirements and separated them into three stages: P0 and P1.

  • P0 requirements had the basic level finding with ratings and descriptions
  • P1 added the ability to save dungeons to your Player ID and show more dungeon stats.

I began with a few wireframes to figure out the layout of the dungeon finder experience. These early wireframes went through user testing to see which format worked best and to get player input very early in the experience.

After finding a solid wireframe experience, I asked for access into the King of Meat game to determine how dungeons worked and the language used throughout to maintain a consistent web experience.

After this, I brought the experience into high fidelity and presented to Glowmade (the game creator), Marketing collaborators and engineering partners for feedback. One of the biggest challenges was determining what APIs the game creator had and how to work with what was provided.

The Dungeon Discovery experience launched with King of Meat in October 2025.
